There are few motor racing drivers in Australia who share the same national and international experience and level of success than The Drive Team Owner and Lead Instructor David Russell.

From his young start in Production Cars all the way to the highest levels of international GT racing, Porsche Carrera Cup and as one of the most in-demand Supercar endurance race co-drivers, David has provided race winning speed and consistency to any team that has provided him with the machinery to do so across his outstanding three decade career.

With class victories and overall successes in every form of GT and Production Car racing that he has competed in both in Australia and across Europe, David has also proven to be an expert in assisting his race engineers with technical information and knowledge gained from his vast motor racing experience.

Three Decades of Success in Motorsport

There are few motor racing drivers in Australia who share the same national and international experience and level of success than The Drive Team Owner and Lead Instructor David Russell.

From his young start in Production Cars all the way to the highest levels of international GT racing, Porsche Carrera Cup and as one of the most in-demand Supercar endurance race co-drivers, David has provided race winning speed and consistency to any team that has provided him with the machinery to do so across his outstanding three decade career.

With class victories and overall successes in every form of GT and Production Car racing that he has competed in both in Australia and across Europe, David has also proven to be an expert in assisting his race engineers with technical information and knowledge gained from his vast motor racing experience.

Even now as he enters his early 40’s, David is racing more competitively than ever, evidenced by his superb results in two of the world’s most competitive motor racing categories in 2024. These were his victories and championship runner-up results In Porsche Carrera Cup Australia and helping to gain the PremiAir Camaro Supercar Team their first podium at the Sandown 500 and a top six result at the Bathurst 1000.

Couple David’s Bathurst 1000 Supercar enduro results with second, third and fourth when David was paired with Supercars Champion Brodie Kostecki in recent years, along with many other top ten results throughout his Supercar endurance racing career with major teams Dick Johnson Racing, Tickford Racing and the Nissan Motorsport and he has an enviable tally of premium level success.

David Russell is without doubt one of Australia’s most versatile and highly skilled motor racing drivers, frequently in demand from GT teams locally and abroad due to his vast experience.

On the personal front, David is married to Stacey and has two children, Lyla and Flynn who both also share their father’s passion for horsepower. Lyla is an accomplished junior Equestrian rider and Flynn has already become a winner in go-kart racing, following in his father’s footsteps.
